Job summary

Hart Recruitment Ltd is seeking a client-facing accountant to own a portfolio of small business clients from start to finish. You will prepare financial statements, tax returns and BAS/IAS, while identifying advisory opportunities and working closely with partners.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in Australian public practice, a relevant degree, and CA/CPA progress. Strong communication and proficient practice software skills are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Approx 3+ years’ experience in an Australian public practice environment.
• Accounting or Commerce degree, with CA/CPA completed or progressing.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Advanced skills with various accounting/practice management/workflow software.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of small business clients from start to finish.
• Prepare financial statements, income tax returns, BAS and IAS for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals.
• Identify and raise advisory opportunities with clients.
• Deal with business structuring, trusts, CGT and small business concessions.
• Review work and mentor junior and offshore team members.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of small business clients from start to finish
• Prepare financial statements, income tax returns, BAS and IAS for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals
• Identify and raise advisory opportunities with clients
• Deal with various issues including business structuring and restructures, Division 7A, trust distributions, CGT and small business concessions
• Assist with year-end tax planning
• Deal directly with business owners
• Review work and mentor junior and offshore team members
• Work closely with the Partners and broader client management team
