Job summary

Brentnalls NSW is seeking an Intermediate Accountant to join our Business Services team in Sydney. You’ll handle compliance and advisory work across client portfolios including property, strata, aged care, wholesale, retail, and investments.

The role requires 2–3+ years in an Australian chartered practice, a related degree, CA studies, and strong communication and organisational skills. We offer hybrid work, a modern CBD office near Martin Place, and clear career progression.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years experience in a Chartered Accounting Practice in Australia
• Degree in Business/Commerce/Finance (Accounting major)
• Studying towards CA or equivalent
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Proactive attitude, self-motivated and enthusiastic
• Committed to providing exceptional service to our clients
• Tech-savvy with practical skills across Microsoft 365, XPM, Xero, MYOB, and advanced Excel skills

Responsibilities

• Providing compliance services, including preparation of management reports, financial statements, tax returns, BAS/IAS and FBT Returns, for individual, partnership, company, trust and superfund clients.
• Participate in client account management and meetings, including direct contact with clients and an opportunity to develop client relationships.
• Identify and contribute to value-add opportunities through compliance work, e.g. tax planning, forecasting, virtual CFO.
• Liaise with various statutory authorities on behalf of clients including the ATO and ASIC
• Work with the Client Director and team to ensure client work is completed within the timeframe allocated

The opportunity
