Job summary

Abacus Human Capital Pty Ltd on the Gold Coast is supporting a well-established, family-owned accounting firm to recruit an assistant accountant. You will prepare financial statements and income tax returns for businesses, trusts and partnerships, including monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting.

With 2+ years in Australian public practice and a degree in Accounting or Commerce, you’ll build strong client relationships while gaining exposure to tax planning and business advisory, and you will

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience in Australian public practice accounting.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce or a related field.
• Experience working with business and trust clients.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
• Current and ongoing working rights in Australia, with the ability to work in Brisbane.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for businesses, trusts and partnerships, including monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting.
• Prepare Payroll Tax, BAS, GST and FBT.
• Gain exposure to tax planning and business advisory, with opportunities to attend client meetings alongside senior team members.
• Develop strong client relationships and liaise with the ATO to assist with client matters.
• Work closely with a supportive, collaborative and high-performing team.
