MKS Group is seeking an Intermediate Accountant in Melbourne to deliver financial statements, tax returns, and management reports for SME clients. You will own client relationships, work extensively in Xero, and collaborate with directors.

Joining a growing accounting and advisory practice, you will have study support for CA/CPA, a 9-day fortnight, and a salary range of AU$70k–AU$85k plus super, with a clear path to Senior Accountant.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience with SME clients in public practice.
• Strong communication and ability to explain financial concepts clearly to clients.

What You'll Be Doing

Preparing financial statements, tax returns, and management reports for a range of SME clients

Owning client relationships with confidence, clarity, and professionalism

Working extensively within Xero to deliver compliance and advisory services

Explaining financial information to clients in plain, easy-to-understand terms with no jargon

Contributing to client strategy and business advisory conversations, not just the numbers behind them

Ensuring compliance with relevant tax and accounting standards

Have at least 3 years experience working with small-to-medium business clients in public practice

Communicate with confidence which means you can explain financial concepts clearly to clients who aren't accountants

Know Xero inside and out

Are comfortable across the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Are CA or CPA qualified, or working toward it
