Job summary

IA, a Proudly Australian-owned interior design and architecture consultancy, invites an experienced Interior Designer to lead or support projects across commercial sectors in Melbourne. You will handle documentation, detailing, and liaison with clients, project managers and consultants to deliver creative design solutions throughout the full project life cycle.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, strong CAD/3D rendering skills (AutoCAD/Revit/SketchUp), and proficiency with

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or accepted equivalent.
• Proficiency with Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop.
• Strong use of AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• Strong use of SketchUp and rendering tools.
• Knowledge of BCA/NCC, Australian Standards and local certification bodies.
• Experience in technical documentation and construction/joinery detailing.
• Ability to manage multiple projects across sectors.
• Experience leading a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience managing budgets and timelines with quality output.

Responsibilities

• Experience all phases of the project from client engagement to construction and handover.
• Lead smaller to medium projects.
• Mentor Graduate Designers.
• Attend and complete site audits.
• Develop schematic/space planning and related documentation.
• Create visual presentation materials.
• Deliver documentation packages for projects.
• Coordinate sub consultants and their deliverables.
• Lead design PCG meetings and reporting.
• Coordinate internal reviews of project work.

• Interior Designer: 3+ years of proven experience in commercial design
• Interest in being guided and supported by our energetic and collaborative team

• Can create unique concepts that push the boundaries of design
• Possess excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Interest in developing a detailed understanding of the project life-cycle process

• Interest in attending local industry events to represent IA within the local market as a workplace design leader
• Open to gaining experience across multiple sectors to develop interesting and diverse projects

• A bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or an accepted alternative qualification
• Proficient use of Adobe Create Suite, specifically Indesign and Photoshop
• A strong use of AutoCAD and/or Revit
• A strong use of SketchUp and other rendering programmes
• A strong knowledge of the requirements of BCA/NCC, Australian Standards and Local Government/Certification bodies
• Experience in technical documentation and construction/ joinery detailing
• A developing ability to manage multiple projects across different sectors
• Developing experience in leading, coordinating and contributing to a multi-disciplinary team both internally and externally
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and timeframes with a quality output

Key Responsibilities

• Opportunity to experience all phases of the project from initial client engagement and briefing, through to construction, handover, and final DLP
• Participate/assist with undertaking complete project briefings with the client/representative, assist with the return brief development.
• Take a lead role on smaller to medium projects
• Help mentor and train Graduate Designers
• Attend and complete site audits
• Assist with the development of schematic / space planning and associated documentation
• Create visual presentation material
• Deliver documentation packages on small, medium and large scale projects
• Assist with contract/subcontractor tender pricing processes
• Coordinate sub consultants and their deliverables
• Lead/Assist with design PCG meetings, and associated documentation/reporting
• Coordinate internal reviews of project work by Design leadership
