Job summary

Mills Oakley is seeking a Lawyer or Associate to join our Insurance team in Sydney, handling Public Liability and Professional Indemnity matters under Michael Down and Nikki Cassar. The role progresses from Local and District Court matters to larger District and Supreme Court matters as experience grows.

Ideal candidates have 1–4 years PQE, strong litigation background, and a client-focused approach. We offer a collaborative environment with diverse opportunities and professional development.

Qualifications

• Between 1-4 years’ PQE, ideally from a defendant firm; plaintiffs considered.
• Demonstrated experience in litigation.
• A professional approach with a client service focus.
• The ability to prioritise tasks and operate in a fast-paced environment.
• A strong academic record from a well-respected university.

Responsibilities

• File management including meeting deadlines and managing documents.
• Reviewing evidence and preparing advices on indemnity, liability and quantum.
• Communicating with clients both in writing and verbally.
• Identifying issues, briefing experts and analysing opinion.
• Preparing court documents, including statements of evidence.
• Drafting correspondence and communicating with other practitioners.
• Preparing for, managing online processes and appearing in Court.
• Briefing and liaising with counsel.
