Job summary

Mills Oakley in Sydney seeks a Lawyer/Associate (2-3 years' PQE) to join the Insurance team supporting Stephen Vardanega and Leah Pryde. You will focus on personal injury work (and some property damage) in public liability, CTP and professional negligence.

You will draft advices, investigate claims, review expert reports, file court documents, attend interlocutory applications and participate in settlements and hearings with senior lawyers.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years' experience in insurance litigation or general litigation.
• Strong research and writing abilities.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborative mindset and team-focused.
• Willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Preparing draft advices on liability and damages.
• Conducting thorough investigations into claims.
• Analysing and advising on expert reports and documents produced on subpoena.
• Drafting and filing legal documents including Subpoenas, Defences and Cross Claims.
• Preparing for and attending interlocutory Court applications in the Supreme Court, District Court and PIC.
• Attending settlement and witness conferences, mediations and hearings with the Partner and Special Counsel
• Conducting legal research.
• Staying abreast of changes in laws and regulations.
• Collaborating with internal teams and external parties to achieve positive outcomes for clients; and
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
