Job summary

Evolution Mining, Ernest Henry Operations, is seeking an Instrument & Control Technician to maintain and improve reliability of underground fixed plant infrastructure. You will diagnose faults, calibrate instruments and support shutdowns across electrical and instrumentation systems, ensuring safety and efficiency.

The role offers onsite work with residential or FIFO options from Brisbane/Townsville/Cairns on a flexible roster, and opportunities to mentor apprentices while contributing to

Qualifications

• The role requires an Electrical Trade Certificate and a current electrical licence.
• A Certificate III in Instrumentation and Control or an equivalent qualification is required.
• Experience in mining, processing, heavy industry or asset-intensive environments is preferred.
• Strong instrument calibration, fault-finding and electrical maintenance experience is essential.
• Exposure to PLC/SCADA systems and process measurement instrumentation is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance across underground fixed plant electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Install, maintain, test and calibrate process measurement instruments including pressure, flow, level and temperature devices.
• Apply PLC and SCADA knowledge to troubleshoot faults and support system reliability.
• Maintain and troubleshoot control valves, actuators and associated instrumentation.
• Support shutdown activities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor apprentices and help build capability across the maintenance team.

As an Instrument Technician, you’ll play a critical role in maintaining and improving the reliability of the underground fixed plant infrastructure that keeps Ernest Henry operating safely and efficiently.

Working across a broad range of electrical, instrumentation and control systems, you’ll diagnose faults, calibrate instruments, support shutdowns and contribute to the performance of key underground assets. This is a hands-on role where your technical expertise will directly influence reliability, availability and operational performance across the site.
