Job summary

Clifton Hall, a South Australian Chartered Accounting firm, is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead insolvency and restructuring engagements.

You will own matters under guidance, manage corporate insolvency appointments, and liaise with directors, creditors and regulators, with partner-level support and CA/CPA qualification assistance available.

Qualifications

• 3–8 years of accounting experience.
• CA/CPA Qualified (or working towards).
• Strong financial analysis and investigative skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Insolvency experience is not required but highly regarded.
• Open to candidates from general accounting, audit, or advisory backgrounds moving into insolvency.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day administration of corporate insolvency appointments (voluntary administrations, liquidations, restructuring, receiverships).
• Handle personal insolvency matters (bankruptcies, personal insolvency agreements).
• Conduct financial investigations and analysis, including reviewing company records, bank statements, and trading performance.
• Prepare reports for creditors, courts, and regulators.
• Liaise directly with directors, creditors, employees, lawyers, and other stakeholders.
• Oversee statutory compliance and lodgements with ASIC and AFSA.
• Identify and progress recovery actions.
• Oversee staff and workflow.

Clifton Hall is a South Australian Chartered Accounting firm specialising in turnaround management, corporate restructuring, corporate and personal insolvency, and forensic accounting and advisory.

We’re looking for an experienced accountant to join our team and take on a hands‑on role managing insolvency and restructuring engagements.

The Role

As a senior accountant in our insolvency team, you’ll take ownership of matters under the guidance of partners and/or senior staff, including:

Managing the day‑to‑day administration of corporate insolvency appointments (voluntary administrations, liquidations, restructuring, receiverships)

Handling personal insolvency matters (bankruptcies, personal insolvency agreements)

Conducting financial investigations and analysis, including reviewing company records, bank statements, and trading performance

Preparing reports for creditors, courts, and regulators

Liaising directly with directors, creditors, employees, lawyers, and other stakeholders

Overseeing statutory compliance and lodgements with ASIC and AFSA

Identifying and progressing recovery actions

Overseeing staff and workflow

About You

3 - 8 years of accounting experience

A degree in Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline

CA/CPA Qualified (or working towards qualification)

Strong financial analysis and investigative skills, with high attention to detail

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to liaise directly with stakeholders

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines

A proactive, problem‑solving mindset

Insolvency experience is not required but highly regarded. We’re equally interested in candidates from general accounting, audit, or advisory backgrounds who are looking to move into insolvency and restructuring.
