Job summary

Avant is seeking an experienced Team Leader for inside sales in Growth, Sydney. You will lead phone-based Sales Consultants, drive new business, retention and application activity, and ensure a high-quality member experience.

This hands-on role blends coaching with performance management and operational delivery to meet targets. You will coach, set expectations, develop capability, and collaborate with Underwriting and Operations to streamline processing while maintaining compliance and customer

Qualifications

• Experience in a sales, retention, portfolio or contact centre environment.
• At least two years’ experience leading team performance in a sales or service setting.
• Strong sales coaching, people leadership and performance management capability.
• Experience processing applications, offers or similar transactional sales activity.
• Exposure to insurance or a regulated environment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team’s day-to-day sales, retention and application activity.
• Support delivery of acquisition and retention targets through planning and prioritisation.
• Monitor sales and application performance and address issues early.
• Coach and develop Sales Consultants through regular feedback and on-the-job support.
• Set clear expectations around performance, behaviours and quality standards.
• Foster a positive, inclusive and accountable team culture.
• Oversee end-to-end processing of new business applications and offers.
• Ensure applications are completed accurately and on time, compliant with underwriting and risk.
• Identify bottlenecks or quality issues across sales and application processes.
• Collaborate with Underwriting and Operations to support efficient processing.
• Support retention activity and escalate complex or at-risk member matters.
• Embed quality, risk awareness and compliance into day-to-day team activity.
