BT Group is seeking an Infrastructure Engineering Specialist to design and operate a next‑generation private cloud built on VMware Cloud Foundation, enabling secure, resilient workloads for internal teams and external customers.

You’ll drive automation, address complex compute/storage/networking challenges, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality services in a security‑driven environment.

Due to the sensitive nature of this role, you will be required to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels/national-security-vetting-clearance-levels). An allowance of £5k per annum may be payable monthly while you hold this DV and continue to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance. The terms of this allowance will be made available if you are successful in being recruited into this role.

About The Role

This is a rare opportunity to shape and operate the platforms that power critical services at scale. You’ll lead the design, build, and ongoing evolution of a next-generation private cloud built on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF 9), enabling secure, resilient, and high-performance workloads for both internal teams and external customers.

Your work will directly underpin services that matter—supporting critical national infrastructure and revenue-generating customer platforms—making a tangible impact on reliability, availability, and the speed at which new services can be delivered. From day one, you’ll influence platform stability, drive service excellence, and enable seamless onboarding of customer workloads in a high-stakes, high-impact environment.

This job role can be based in Ipswich, London, Cheltenham or Manchester. Due to security requirements, this role requires you to be located on site during your working hours. Mon-Fri 37.5.

DV Security Clearance is required. Must have lived in UK for 10+ years to obtain clearance.

• Encryption and certificate management (PKI, TLS/SSL)
