Job summary

Mott MacDonald seeks an Infrastructure Advisor to join our Adelaide team. You will provide technical and commercial advice to plan, prioritise, and deliver infrastructure programs in South Australia, with key clients including SA Water and the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT).

You'll contribute to investment decisions, coordinate multidisciplinary inputs, and deliver high-quality advisory outputs while supporting sustainable, resilient community outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Economics, Planning, Project Management, Business or related discipline.
  • Approximately 3+ years of relevant experience in infrastructure planning, advisory, design, or program delivery.
  • Experience working with SA Water, DIT, or other major utilities.
  • Experience contributing to advisory engagements, business cases, infrastructure planning, or integrated programs.
  • Reputable experience in infrastructure advisory within consulting, utility, or government environments.
  • Strong understanding of water and wastewater networks, asset management, regulatory processes, and capital planning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and commercial advice to support planning, prioritisation, and delivery of infrastructure programs in South Australia.
  • Contribute to investment decisions, coordinate multidisciplinary inputs, and prepare advisory outputs.
  • Support workshops, gateway reviews, design assurance activities, and stakeholder consultations.
  • Build relationships with client representatives, project teams, and government stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with planning, economics, engineering, commercial, and project management colleagues on advisory engagements.
  • Support development of infrastructure strategies, network planning, and digital solutions for SA Water and other utilities.

Due to strong growth and recent wins in the Water space in South Australia, we are seeking an Infrastructure Advisor, with experience in the water sector, to join our team in Adelaide.

As an Infrastructure Advisor at Mott MacDonald, you will provide technical and commercial advice to support the planning, prioritisation, and delivery of infrastructure programs across South Australia. With a focus on key clients including SA Water and the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT), you will contribute to investment decisions, coordinate multidisciplinary inputs, prepare high-quality advisory outputs, and support Mott MacDonald’s position as a trusted partner for government-owned utilities.

The role combines analytical thinking, infrastructure knowledge, commercial awareness, and a collaborative consulting approach to support sustainable, resilient, and community-focused outcomes.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Support the development of infrastructure strategies, network planning, and digital solutions for SA Water and other national water utilities.
  • Undertake multicriteria assessments, risk-based prioritisation, asset planning, and the development of digital solutions.
  • Work closely with SA Water and other national water utilities to define scopes, coordinate engagements, and deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Support workshops, briefings, gateway reviews, design assurance activities, and stakeholder consultations.
  • Build effective working relationships with client representatives, project teams, and government stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with advisory colleagues across planning, economics, engineering, commercial, and project management disciplines.

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Economics, Planning, Project Management, Business or related discipline.
  • Approximately 3+ years of relevant experience in infrastructure planning, advisory, design, or program delivery.
  • Experience working in or withSA Water, DIT, or other major utilities.
  • Experience contributing to advisory engagements, business cases, infrastructure planning, or integrated programs.
  • Relevant experience in infrastructure advisory, planning, engineering, or program delivery within a consulting, utility, or government environment.
  • Strong understandingwater and wastewater networks and treatment, asset management, regulatory processes, and capital planning preferred.
  • Commercial awareness and experience contributing to bids, proposals, and client engagements are preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, including executive writing and high-impact presentation abilities.
