Qualifications

PDA Surveyors, Engineers & Planners (PDA) is a Tasmania owned, statewide, multi-disciplinary company operating for over 70 years comprised of land and engineering Surveyors, Civil Engineers and Town Planners. Our team of highly experienced and innovative professionals have a diverse range of specialist capabilities and provide an exceptional level of service to our clients. We carry out an array of services including but not limited to land, building and infrastructure related projects.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced and technically skilled candidate to join our team in our head office in Hobart on a full-time basis. You’ll be the first point of contact for IT support across our statewide network, providing technical assistance to a team operating over 100+ devices including workstations, laptops, servers, and various network systems.

This role is well-suited to someone who thrives in a hands-on, autonomous position and enjoys providing a high level of service in a dynamic environment. Support and training will be provided by our Directors and administration team to ensure your success.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Professional attitude and appearance.
  • Proven prior experience in a similar IT support or technician role.
  • In-depth understanding of computer systems and networks.
  • Good knowledge of cybersecurity and data privacy principles.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • ICT Certificate or Diploma (or equivalent experience).
  • Current driver’s licence.
  • Experience with: Microsoft Windows Server (including Active Directory), Microsoft 365, FortiNet Routers, QNAP NAS, Veeam Backup, MYOB EXO, 3CX VOIP systems.

Responsibilities

The positions responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Under the direction of existing IT management and systems, be the first point of contact for all IT related enquiries throughout the company at the user level.
  • Provide remote support to our greater network of users across all of our offices.
  • Respond to user needs in a timely manner to ensure optimal operation of company IT devices and systems.
  • Maintain existing, and assist with the research, development and implementation of new documentation, log registers, policies and practices of information management.
  • Configure and deploy new hardware and software.
  • Maintain, upgrade and manage network, infrastructure, hardware and software, including research and proposals of newer solutions.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the asset register for IT related items.
  • Undertake hardware and software configuration and maintenance.
