Job summary

Queensland Corrective Services is seeking an Industries Supervisor at Wacol QLD. The role coordinates and manages Centre Industry operations to generate revenue and provide offender employment and training opportunities while ensuring secure management of offenders in the area.

The successful candidate will bring trade experience, leadership capability, case management know-how, resource management skills and strong problem-solving abilities, with solid computer skills and the ability to work

Qualifications

• Must have relevant trade experience (Carpentry/Joinery, Boilermaker/Sheetmetal, Horticulture or Chef).
• Experience leading teams and motivating others in demanding roles.
• Experience in case management in a human services field.
• Experience in managing resources and budgets.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Proficient computer and keyboard skills.
• Ability to liaise with people from diverse social and cultural backgrounds.

Queensland Corrective Services - Wacol QLD

Correctional centres are responsible for the delivery of custodial services across Queensland. People in custody are supervised in either high or low security correctional centres. High security centres provide for the management of adult prisoners held in secure custody correctional centres across Queensland.

The role of the Industries Supervisor is to co-ordinate, control, develop and manage the operations of the Centre Industry areas to ensure revenue generation and cost effective operation, whilst maximizing employment and training opportunities for offenders. The position also ensures the secure management of offenders within the area.

The essential requirements for this role are:

• Previous experience in relevant trade (Carpentry and Joinery, Engineering related discipline ie Boilermaker or Sheetmetal, Horticulture or Chef)
• Experience in leading with the ability to motivate and encourage others to meet the challenges of demanding work roles
• Experience and understanding of case management in a human services field
• Experience in managing resources
• Problem solving
• Computer and keyboard skills
• Ability to liaise with people from diverse social and cultural backgrounds

Qualifications, professional registration, conditions and other requirements

• Must already be an accredited Custodial Correctional Officer and possess a current Certificate III in Correctional Practices.
• Certificate IV in Correctional Practice is a prerequisite for appointment to the role of Correctional Supervisor.
