Job summary

Independent Education Union of Australia – NSW/ACT Branch in Sydney is seeking an Industrial Officer to help maximise access to Commonwealth-funded wage rises for Early Childhood Education and Care workers.

You will join a dedicated industrial team, work from the Ultimo office, and focus on wage justice, reporting obligations, and stakeholder engagement. Training will be provided; salary is commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications (legal or industrial relations preferred)
• Solid knowledge of the Australian industrial relations environment
• Ability to work in a team while also managing workloads and deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Attention to detail and ability to review technical documents
• Ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including ECEC staff and services
• Demonstrated commitment to the principles of the trade union movement

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with IEU campaign and education officials, attend stakeholder meetings, develop educational resources, support reporting obligations.
• Provide industrial advice on WRP, gender undervaluation increases, annual wage reviews and sector developments.
• Prepare and file Fair Work Commission documentation to support services joining the ECEC MEA.
• Advise on WRP compliance, including minimum contributions and wage obligations.
• Draft and review translations of ECEC classifications into awards, enterprise agreements and wage schedules.
• Assist ECEC services to establish and maintain compliant workplace instruments to access WRP wage increases.
