Job summary

FPM Cereal Milling Systems in Tamworth is seeking an experienced Industrial Electrician with PLC programming and automation expertise to support the operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of two family-owned milling businesses.

The role is hands-on, combining electrical maintenance, fault-finding, PLC programming and process automation to help maintain reliable plant operation, troubleshoot breakdowns and upgrade controls.

Qualifications

• Licensed industrial electrician with PLC programming and automation experience.
• Experience in electrical maintenance, fault-finding and plant upgrades.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and control drawings.
• Experience with HMIs, SCADA, and automation platforms.
• Prior food processing/milling experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical maintenance, fault-finding and preventative maintenance across milling equipment.
• Develop, modify and troubleshoot PLC programs using Ladder Logic or Structured Text.
• Diagnose faults involving control panels, motors, sensors, VFDs and networks.
• Configure and maintain HMIs and SCADA systems where applicable.
• Assist with electrical installations, tooling and commissioning.
• Identify opportunities to improve automation and plant safety.
• Maintain maintenance records and electrical documentation.
• Occasional after-hours call-outs and site travel as required.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced, licensed Industrial Electrician with PLCprogramming and automation experience to support the operation,maintenance and ongoing improvement of two family-owned millingbusinesses: FPM Cereal Milling Systems in Tamworth and Summit Milling inGuyra.

This is a hands-on role combining industrial electrical maintenance, fault- finding, PLC programming and process automation. The successful applicantwill help maintain reliable plant operation, troubleshoot breakdowns, improveexisting control systems and support machinery upgrades and commissioning.

The position is based in Tamworth, with occasional travel to our Guyra site asrequired. The person will occasionally need to travel between the sites and may berequired to respond to rare breakdown call-outs out of hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical maintenance, fault-finding, repairs and preventative maintenance across milling and processing equipment.
• Develop, modify, troubleshoot and optimise PLC programs using Ladder Logic, Structured Text or other relevant programming languages.
• Diagnose faults involving control panels, motors, sensors, variable frequency drives, actuators and industrial networks.
• Configure and maintain HMIs and SCADA systems where applicable.
• Assist with electrical installations, control panel modifications, machinery upgrades and commissioning.
• Identify opportunities to improve automation, production efficiency, equipment reliability and plant safety.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and electrical documentation.
• Respond to breakdowns and participate in occasional after-hours call-outs as required.
• Work collaboratively with mill management and production staff across both businesses.
• Current NSW electrical licence appropriate for the electrical work required.
• Demonstrated experience in industrial electrical maintenance and fault-finding.
• Practical PLC programming experience, including the ability to modify and troubleshoot existing programs.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and control system drawings.
• A strong commitment to workplace safety, safe isolation procedures and reliable plant operation.
• A practical, self-motivated approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently.
• Experience with industrial automation platforms such as Adroit or equivalent.
• Experience with HMIs, SCADA, variable frequency drives, sensors and industrial communication networks.
• Experience in food processing, grain handling, milling or other manufacturing environments.
• Experience with preventative maintenance planning, machinery commissioning and continuous improvement.
• Additional qualifications in automation, mechatronics or electrical engineering.
