Wuchopperen Health Service in Cairns is seeking a Youth Mentor (Identified) to provide culturally safe mentoring to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people referred to the service. This full-time, permanent role reports to the Manager, Youth and Family Services and focuses on connecting youth to culture, families and community through coordinated supports and healing activities.

A tertiary qualification or demonstrated experience with vulnerable young people is required, plus blue

Formación

• Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people preferred.
• Able to demonstrate culturally appropriate mentoring approaches.
• Strong communication and advocacy skills.

Responsabilidades

• Liaise with youth, families and relevant programs to map support and connect young people with culture.
• Establish connections with family/kin to strengthen cultural ties.
• Engage with families and significant people to support natural supports via a trusted mentor.
• Provide activities to strengthen kinship, culture, community and country through events.
• Develop networks across Cairns region to coordinate culturally safe services.
• Keep accurate client records and contribute to reporting systems.
