Job summary

Catholic Education - Diocese of Cairns invites applications for an Indigenous Liaison Officer at St Therese's School Bentley Park. The role focuses on communication and liaison between diocesan schools, Catholic Education Services and First Nations communities to boost engagement and outcomes for First Nations students.

Reporting to school staff and working under teachers, the officer will build links with communities, support families, and coordinate access to services while promoting respect

Qualifications

• Experience liaising with First Nations communities
• Ability to work collaboratively with school staff
• Commitment to child safety and wellbeing standards

Responsibilities

• Establish and expand links with First Nations communities and school communities
• Facilitate and maintain communication between stakeholders including school staff and communities
• Provide support to teachers to enhance engagement of First Nations students
• Develop networks with agencies to support holistic student needs
• Assist in classroom learning experiences for First Nations students under supervision
• Support student engagement by reinforcing school expectations and behaviour plans
