Job summary

The University of Newcastle is seeking a Coordinator for the Thurru Indigenous Health Unit to lead day-to-day operations, support Indigenous health education, and engage with communities across campuses.

Based at the Callaghan Campus (Awabakal Land), you will manage projects, mentor staff, and build partnerships with community, government, and industry to advance Indigenous student success and research impact.

Qualifications

• Experience working with Indigenous organisations and communities.
• Ability to mentor, supervise and support direct reports.
• Demonstrated experience managing competing priorities, leading teams and applying strong organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day operations, events, programs and key initiatives of the Thurru Indigenous Health Unit.
• Supervise and support the Administrative Assistant, providing day-to-day guidance and workload coordination.
• Coordinate and participate in meetings, working groups, events and community engagement activities with stakeholders across sectors.
• Coordinate and manage multiple projects and initiatives, ensuring milestones, timelines, budgets and risks are managed.
• Support strategic initiatives and partnerships to strengthen Indigenous health education and workforce development.
• Contribute to writing research and funding proposals to support strategic initiatives.
