Job summary

MacKillop Family Services in Perth is seeking a Counsellor for the Indigenous Healing Service WA to provide professional counselling to children, young people and families in trauma recovery, in collaboration with the Principal Practitioner and Pilbara Services Manager.

The role is full-time, based in our Perth office with weekly travel to Port Hedland, WA, and reports to the WA/NT Principal Practitioner. Applicants from Aboriginal backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or related discipline preferred.
• Diploma or certificate plus extensive relevant experience will be considered.
• Experience counselling children, young people and families.
• Understanding of trauma and sensitive handling of abuse and violence cases.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional counselling services in consultation with the Principal Practitioner and Pilbara Services Manager.
• Deliver services in Indigenous Healing Service WA program with weekly travel to Port Hedland.
• Ensure culturally safe practice and support for clients and families.
