Job summary

Dementia Australia is seeking a Community Partnership and Engagement Advisor in Alice Springs to lead culturally safe engagement with Aboriginal communities and stakeholders. You will develop regional strategies, build partnerships with ACCOs and health services, and deliver locally relevant dementia education and resources.

Qualifications

• Experience in community engagement or similar role with proven initiative leadership.
• Strong knowledge of local health and community organisations; ability to build and maintain networks and partnerships.
• Desirable: experience in remote Aboriginal communities and understanding of local contexts.
• Tertiary qualification in Health, Community Services, Human Services or related field (highly desirable).

Responsibilities

• Build trusted, culturally safe relationships with Aboriginal Elders, community leaders, families and service providers.
• Represent Dementia Australia across Alice Springs and remote Central Australian communities.
• Develop and implement regional community engagement and awareness initiatives to increase dementia awareness and reduce stigma.
• Establish and maintain partnerships with ACCOs, councils, health services and key stakeholders.
• Create and deliver culturally safe, accessible dementia education and engagement resources.
• Identify community needs and share insights to inform culturally responsive service planning.
• Coordinate travel and engagement across remote communities with permits and safety practices.
• Provide guidance, mentoring and capability development to local workers.
• Support workforce attraction, recruitment and retention and strengthen local partnerships.
