Job summary

MidCoast Council is seeking a knowledgeable Plumbing and Infrastructure Inspector to join the Water Planning and Assets team in MidCoast NSW. The role involves inspecting private plumbing and drainage and developer-provided water infrastructure to ensure compliance with Council requirements and the Plumbing Code of Australia.

You will collaborate with contractors, consultants and internal teams to deliver compliant infrastructure and provide technical guidance on hydraulic designs.

Qualifications

• Minimum certificate-level qualification in Plumbing and Services, Water Operations or related field.
• Current Plumbing and Drainage licence or equivalent.
• Experience inspecting domestic/commercial plumbing and drainage works.
• Knowledge of plumbing industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Understanding water and wastewater regulatory environment and trade waste policies.

Responsibilities

• Undertake delegated regulatory functions under NSW Plumbing and Drainage Act 2011.
• Inspect plumbing and drainage works for compliance with legislation, codes and standards.
• Inspect developer-provided water/sewerage infrastructure for Council compliance.
• Provide technical guidance to contractors and consultants on plumbing infrastructure.
• Advise Development Services and internal teams on hydraulic designs.
• Prepare documentation and reports on plumbing, drainage and sewerage matters.
• Monitor industry standards and maintain professional networks.
• Contribute to improving development-related standards and procedures.
• Build relationships with stakeholders to support outcomes.
• Apply sound judgement with strong customer focus.
