Job summary

Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA) seeks an APS 6 Government Lawyer to deliver high-quality legal advice supporting AFSA's regulatory, operational and corporate functions. You will handle a broad range of matters, manage litigation, and contribute to risk-based decision-making across the agency.

You will work with Senior and Principal Government Lawyers and stakeholders to identify legal risks and deliver practical, timely advice in a diverse, government setting.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with LLB and admission to practice.
• Current practising certificate or eligible to obtain one.
• 2+ years' legal practice in government, regulatory or public sectors.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical, risk-based legal advice across regulatory, corporate and operational matters.
• Manage litigation, tribunal proceedings and dispute resolution work.
• Prepare legal advice, briefs and court/tribunal documents.
• Build stakeholder relationships and contribute to continuous improvement of legal services.
