Job summary

Based at the Charles Perkins Centre, Camperdown Campus, the role offers a fixed-term contract with potential extension up to two years.

Qualifications

• Honours degree (first class honours or equivalent) in immunology, microbiology, biomedical science or equivalent laboratory experience.
• Experience with mouse models or tissue/biospecimen handling.
• Experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques relevant to biomedical research.
• Experience handling and analyzing biological specimens.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and meticulous record keeping.
• Strong organizational, time-management and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with laboratory-based research projects investigating urinary tract disease.
• Develop and implement experimental protocols and procedures.
• Perform procedures in line with established protocols and ethical requirements.
• Assist with preclinical mouse studies including animal monitoring and tissue collection.
• Undertake molecular, cellular and immunological techniques to support projects.
• Assist with tissue processing, histology, microscopy and image analysis.
• Collect, organize and maintain accurate research records and data.
• Participate in data collection, quality control, analysis and interpretation.
• Contribute to preparation of research reports, ethics applications and grants.
• Collaborate with researchers, students and external partners to support delivery.
• Assist with inventory management and ordering of consumables.
• Support health, safety, and compliance activities and training.
