Job description

Supervise and report cardiac imaging across Melbourne, with a full reporting list, an experienced sonography team and administrative support already in place.

Heartscope, part of Scope Healthcare, provides specialist cardiology consultations and cardiac diagnostics across Greater Melbourne. We began as a mobile echocardiography service in 1995 and have since grown into an established network of cardiologists, sonographers and dedicated support teams with over 15 locations in Melbourne.

As our services and team continue to expand, we’re welcoming imaging cardiologists to join Heartscope. The work is supervising stress echocardiograms and reporting them, along with echocardiograms, Holter monitors, ambulatory blood pressure monitors, ECGs and other cardiac imaging tests. Cardiologists with CTCA accreditation can also report CT coronary angiograms and calcium scores.

We’re also welcoming our imaging cardiologists to consult as well. Consulting at Heartscope means undertaking adult outpatient work, with the ongoing care of your patients that follows from it. Your patients' investigations will be done in our own clinics, so they can get an appointment in the same week and the results come straight back to you. If you’re moving an established consulting practice to Heartscope, we can negotiate a transition package that includes compensation.

What we offer
  • Established patient flow. Report within an existing cardiac network with patient flow and referral relationships in place, so your sessions fill from the start.

  • An experienced clinical team. Work alongside experienced sonographers and technicians, with colleagues available to discuss complex studies and patient care.

  • Practice support. Rooms, equipment, reception and scheduling are in place and run by our administrative team.

  • Marketing and referrer outreach. Our marketing team promotes your profile and builds relationships with GPs and other referring clinicians.

  • Flexible sessions and locations. Choose from clinics across Melbourne and sessions that fit your other commitments, from a few reporting sessions to a full week.

  • Teaching and education. Contribute to imaging quality and sonographer development, with a connection to accredited healthcare education through Scope Institute.

  • Remuneration and benefits. Clinic locations, sessions and commercial terms are discussed individually, taking your clinical interests and availability into account. There are also other discounts and offers available at a range of retailers, venues and services.

What we’re looking for
  • FRACP with specialist training in cardiology, or a recognised equivalent.

  • Specialist registration in cardiology with the Medical Board of Australia through AHPRA, in place before commencement.

  • Demonstrated expertise in transthoracic echocardiography and the supervision and reporting of stress echocardiography.

  • Experience reporting Holter monitors, ambulatory blood pressure monitors and ECGs.

  • Clear, timely reports and communication with referring GPs and treating clinicians.

  • Eligibility for the relevant Medicare provider numbers and appropriate professional indemnity cover.

  • Fellowship training in cardiac imaging and CTCA accreditation would be highly regarded.
