Job summary

Macquarie University Health is seeking a highly motivated ICU Registrar to join the Intensive Care Unit at Macquarie University Hospital, North Ryde. The 1-year fixed-term, full-time position commences February 2027, offering close mentorship and exposure to critically ill patients in a tertiary private hospital environment.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification recognised in Australia.
• Successful completion of internship and at least one additional postgraduate year of clinical experience, including a minimum of three months' ICU experience.
• Experience in critical care, emergency medicine, anaesthetics, acute medicine or related field with interest in ICU medicine.
• Competency in core procedural skills and ALS2 certification (or willingness to undertake training).
• Commitment to patient-centred care, safety and multidisciplinary teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assess, manage and review critically ill patients under supervision.
• Participate in daily ICU rounds, handovers and admission reviews.
• Develop management plans with senior medical staff and multidisciplinary teams.
• Respond to deteriorating patients and Code Blue calls; contribute to discharge planning.
• Develop advanced critical care skills and participate in teaching, audits and research.
