Job summary

Westmead Hospital, part of NSW Health, is seeking a Permanent Intensive Care Equipment Officer. This role leverages ICU nursing expertise to manage ICU equipment, drive safer care, and influence technology adoption across a tertiary ICU.

You will lead the equipment lifecycle, provide expert support to ICU staff, evaluate new tech, and work with Biomedical and Maintenance teams to minimise disruptions while improving safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated understanding of the equipment utilised in a tertiary ICU.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to develop relationships with clinical teams.
• Strong time management, organisation and attention to detail.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and use initiative.
• High-level communication, coaching and facilitation skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the equipment lifecycle—from procurement to replacement.
• Provide expert advice and troubleshooting support to ICU staff.
• Evaluate new equipment and facilitate trials, translating feedback into recommendations.
• Collaborate with Biomedical and Maintenance teams to minimise service disruption.
• Monitor safety, quality, cost-effectiveness and contribute to planning and audits.
