Job summary

John Monash Science School is seeking an ICT Manager to lead the school’s Information & Communications Technology team and align ICT services with strategic priorities. You will collaborate with the Executive Team, teaching and support staff, students, Monash University and external providers to ensure secure, reliable and responsive ICT services.

  • Knowledge of contemporary ICT infrastructure, cloud-based services (Google Workspace, Microsoft) and educational information systems.
  • Ability to identify and manage ICT risks, cyber security requirements, incidents and business continuity, with understanding of Department policies.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate an ICT team, manage competing priorities and projects, and build relationships with staff and stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and interpersonal skills with ability to advise and support teaching, learning and operations.

  • Provide ICT advice to the Executive Team and contribute to strategic planning and investments.
  • Oversee operation, security and reliability of ICT infrastructure and services (Google Workspace, Canvas, Compass, BYOD).
  • Coordinate ICT support, upgrades, projects and new ICT solutions.
  • Ensure ICT projects align with Department of Education requirements and staff impact is managed.

Selection Criteria
  • KSC 1: Demonstrated experience in managing and supporting ICT systems and services within a complex educational or organisational environment, with the ability to align ICT services with organisational priorities.
  • KSC 2: Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary ICT infrastructure, cloud-based services including Google Workspace and Microsoft, and educational information and learning systems, including the ability to oversee reliable and effective technology operations.
  • KSC 3: Demonstrated ability to identify and manage ICT risks, cyber security requirements, incidents and business continuity, with an understanding of relevant Department of Education policies and requirements.
  • KSC 4: Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate an ICT team, manage competing priorities and projects, and build effective working relationships with staff, external providers and key stakeholders.
  • KSC 5: Highly developed communication, problem-solving and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide practical ICT advice, support continuous improvement and contribute positively to teaching, learning and school operations.
Role

The Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Manager will work with the Executive Team, teaching staff, Education Support staff, students, Monash University and external providers to ensure ICT services are secure, reliable, responsive and aligned with the strategic priorities of JMSS and the requirements of the Department of Education.

The ICT Manager will lead and coordinate the JMSS ICT team and oversee the delivery of ICT services across the school.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain an ICT roadmap aligned with the strategic priorities and future technology requirements of JMSS.
  • Provide ICT advice to the Executive Team and contribute to strategic planning, technology investment and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the effective operation, security and reliability of ICT infrastructure, systems and services, including Google Workspace, Canvas, Compass and the school's BYOD environment.
  • Coordinate ICT support, system upgrades, technology projects and the implementation of new ICT solutions.
  • Support and coordinate the implementation of ICT projects, initiatives and system changes required by the Department of Education, ensuring impacts on staff, students and school operations are appropriately managed.
  • Oversee the provision of timely, effective and responsive ICT support to staff and students, ensuring ICT issues are appropriately prioritised, resolved and escalated where required.
  • Work with Monash University and external providers regarding ICT infrastructure, technical issues, services and solutions.
  • Identify and manage ICT-related risks and support the implementation of Department of Education cyber security requirements.
  • Develop and maintain ICT outage, incident response and business continuity arrangements.
  • Lead and coordinate the ICT team, including allocation of responsibilities, service delivery, professional development and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor ICT budgets, procurement, assets and technology lifecycle requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff to ensure technology effectively supports teaching, learning and school operations.
  • Contribute ICT expertise to relevant school planning, teaching and learning groups and projects.
  • Perform other related duties and projects as directed by the Executive Team or delegate.
