Job summary

Department of Transport and Main Roads QLD – Brisbane QLD is seeking a Hydrographic Surveyor to deliver professional hydrographic surveys and expert technical advice for Queensland's maritime safety and navigation.

You will plan and execute hydrographic surveys across Queensland, prepare estimates and reports, mentor graduate surveyors, and assist with maintaining tidal infrastructure data, with travel across the state and a six-month probation period.

Qualifications

• Degree in Surveying or equivalent qualifications
• Open driver’s licence
• Willingness to travel throughout Queensland for periods up to four weeks
• Criminal history screening required
• Six-month probation period

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute hydrographic surveys across Queensland
• Prepare cost estimates, survey instructions and detailed project reports
• Provide expert technical advice to management, port authorities and industry stakeholders
• Mentor and train graduate surveyors and team members
• Assist with storage and maintenance of Queensland tidal infrastructure
