Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants seeks an experienced hydrogeologist to lead groundwater projects from Perth. You will guide multi-disciplinary teams and deliver high-quality technical work for Tier 1 energy and resource clients.

The role emphasizes conceptual and numerical modelling, development of Perth groundwater services, and client-focused proposals within a hybrid work framework.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology/earth science/hydrology or engineering is required.
  • Post graduate MSc in hydrogeology is preferred.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Act as central point of contact for the Perth Office.
  • Lead, manage and deliver hydrogeological projects.
  • Prepare high-quality proposals, tenders, RFQs, scopes of work, etc.
  • Be a key leader in developing Perth groundwater practice group and consulting services.
  • Conceptual assessment of groundwater flow, fate and transport;
  • Quantitative groundwater assessments using analytical and 2D/3D modelling tools (SEEPW, HYDRUS, MODFLOW, GoldSim).
  • Lead development of innovative solutions for groundwater problems in WA.
  • Prepare technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Act as a central point of contact for the Perth Office
  • Lead, Manage and deliver hydrogeological projects
  • Lead the preparation of high-quality and strategically thought-out proposals, tenders, RFQs, scopes of work etc
  • Be a key leader in the development of Perth Groundwater practice group and consulting services
  • Conceptual assessment of groundwater flow, fate and transport;
  • Quantitative groundwater assessments of flow, fate and transport using analytical as well as 2D and 3D numerical modelling tools – SEEPW, HYDRUS, MODFLOW, GoldSim;
  • Lead the development of innovative solutions for complex groundwater problems that the WA market is facing or could arise in the future
  • Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals; and
  • Training: This position requires health and safety, first aid and other on-the-job training. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our employees to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants. Further training to enhance skills on specialist software will also be provided e.g. Leapfrog, SEEPW, GIS, MODFLOW, etc
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor’s degree in geology/earth science/geochemistry/hydrology or engineering or related field of study (required)
  • Post graduate MSc or similar in hydrogeology (preferred)
Skills, Experience And Qualifications
  • 8+ years of consulting experience. (required)
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (preferred)
  • Demonstrated success in teamwork. (preferred)
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting deadlines and budgets, and traveling to client facilities as needed
Highly Regarded Skills & Experience
  • Post graduate MSc or similar in hydrogeology (highly preferred)
  • Strong GIS skills - ArcGIS, QGIS, or Surfer (preferred)
  • Strong data handling and manipulation skills, and data analysis (preferred)
  • Experience assisting with groundwater assessments and site conceptual model development (preferred)
  • Fieldwork experience – drilling supervision, logging, testing, sampling, monitoring (preferred)
  • Experience with Leapfrog, or other 3D volumetric modelling software (preferred)
  • Experience with 2D and/or 3D numerical flow models (preferred)
