Transport for NSW is seeking a permanent WHS Advisor to balance field-based safety partnering with strategic advisory work across major rail infrastructure projects. You will contribute to risk management, assurance activities and incident investigations while supporting governance, planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

As a trusted advisor, you will embed WHS frameworks, policies and procedures across rail operations, provide pragmatic safety advice, and ensure compliance with WHS

Qualifications

• Heavy industry (rail and construction) experience essential. 4-5 years experience in a similar WHS role, particularly with a focus on implementation rather than maintenance.
• Expert knowledge of Rail Safety National Law (essential), Work Health and Safety Act, Work Health and Safety Regulation, Heavy Vehicle National Law, relevant Work Health and Safety Legislation and Codes of Practice
• A relevant professional qualification and/or certification in Work Health & Safety
• Strong understanding of WHS legislation, risk management principles, and safety systems within an operational or rail environment
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence, build relationships, and drive positive safety outcomes
• A proactive, energetic approach and genuine passion for improving safety performance

Responsabilités

• Assurance & Compliance: Delivering assurance and compliance activities across NSW Rail operations, including implementation of the WHS assurance plan, and conducting audits, inspections, and risk assessments to support continuous improvement
• Risk Management Support: Partnering with stakeholders to identify, assess, and managing critical risks
• Ad Hoc & Emerging Priorities: Providing responsive support for emerging safety matters, including incident investigations, management of urgent risks, and timely WHS advice to stakeholders.
