Job summary

Deloitte is seeking a Database Administrator in Sydney with hybrid working to own stable, secure, high-performing data platforms across on‑prem, Azure and AWS. You’ll monitor health, tune performance, manage access and backups, and support DR readiness.

You’ll collaborate with engineers, service management and data teams to improve resilience, security and compliance, while maintaining audit-ready records and strong operational ownership.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of hands-on SQL Server DB admin experience with backups, security and performance tuning.
• Experience writing SQL and PowerShell scripts.
• Diagnostic skills to identify issues and drive resolution.
• Familiarity with ITSM disciplines (incident/problem/change).
• Security/compliance mindset including audit trails and documented evidence.
• Good communication and proactive optimization mindset.
• Azure SQL / AWS RDS / PostgreSQL experience is a plus; Databricks/ADF bonus.

Responsibilities

• Administer and optimise database environments across development, test and production.
• Monitor health, capacity and performance; tune queries and indexes.
• Manage access, permissions, encryption, backups and restore validation.
• Ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness.
• Handle incident triage, restoration, root cause analysis and change management.
• Collaborate with engineers, service management and data/platform teams across Azure and AWS.
