Job summary

Talenza is seeking a Payroll - Shared Services Officer for a NSW Government client. The role involves end-to-end payroll processing, responding to employee enquiries, and maintaining confidential records from Burwood, NSW with a 50/50 remote/office split.

Start date is ASAP. Contract until 24 December 2026 with potential extension. Hourly rate is AU$45–AU$50 plus super, 35 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Experience in payroll processing or payroll administration.
• Understanding of payroll principles, awards, and employment conditions relevant to NSW.
• Experience providing customer service in payroll/shared services environments.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high accuracy.
• Experience using payroll systems and computer applications.
• Ability to manage competing priorities during peak periods.
• Confidentiality and sound judgement when handling employee information.

Responsibilities

• Process end-to-end payroll transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Respond to payroll enquiries and provide high-quality customer service to employees and stakeholders.
• Ensure payroll processing is in accordance with relevant awards, legislation, policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records and employee information.
• Prepare payroll reports and support payroll reconciliation activities.
• Escalate complex payroll enquiries to specialist payroll team members when required.
• Utilise payroll, HR and business systems to process transactions and maintain records.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the enhancement of payroll processes and service delivery.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of payroll knowledge articles and process documentation.
• Work collaboratively within a team environment to achieve service delivery objectives and performance targets.
