Job summary

NSW Trustee and Guardian is seeking an Assistant Public Guardian – Operations for Aboriginal Targeted in Sydney. You will provide senior leadership, oversee guardianship services, and drive continuous improvement within a culturally safe framework.

The role requires leading multidisciplinary teams, managing priorities and budgets, and advising senior leaders on complex matters in accordance with legislation and policy. Flexible/hybrid arrangements are available.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience leading and managing teams in a complex service delivery environment.
• Ability to solve complex human service issues and make sound decisions in sensitive or high-risk matters.
• Understanding guardianship practice, advocacy and services for vulnerable people.
• Experience driving quality assurance, continuous improvement and consistent practice standards.
• Highly developed communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
• Ability to travel throughout NSW and undertake after-hours responsibilities on a rotational basis.
• Degree or significant equivalent experience in social work, health, behavioural sciences or law.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior leadership and strategic direction across Public Guardian operations.
• Lead and develop teams, manage priorities, oversee staffing and budget resources.
• Ensure services are delivered in line with legislation, policy and standards.
• Offer high-level advice to the Public Guardian and senior leaders on complex matters.
• Drive quality assurance, continuous improvement, service modernisation and stakeholder collaboration.
