Job summary

NSW Trustee and Guardian is seeking an Assistant Public Guardian – Operations – Aboriginal Targeted in Sydney CBD with hybrid work flexibility. The role leads Guardian operations, develops teams, manages staffing and budget, and advises on complex matters to deliver high-quality guardianship services.

You will balance strategic priorities with operational delivery, supporting vulnerable clients and ensuring compliance with legislation and policy. Flexible, culturally safe leadership is required.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary or dispersed teams in complex human service settings.
• Experience solving complex human service issues and making sound decisions in high-risk matters.
• Sound understanding of guardianship practice and services for vulnerable people.
• Experience driving quality assurance, continuous improvement, and consistent practice standards.
• Highly developed communication and influencing skills with stakeholders.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, resources, and projects to deliver outcomes on time.
• A degree and/or significant equivalent experience in social work, health, behavioural sciences, law or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior leadership and strategic direction across Public Guardian operations.
• Lead and develop teams, oversee staffing and budget resources.
• Ensure services are delivered in line with legislation, policy, and practice standards.
• Provide high-level advice to the Public Guardian and senior leaders on complex guardianship matters.
• Drive quality assurance, continuous improvement and service modernisation.
• Support staff through complex human service matters and stakeholder collaboration.
