Job summary

Black Square Engineering is seeking an experienced Mechanical or Structural Engineer to join our team in Capalaba, Brisbane, or Toowoomba. This role targets 3–5 years of post-graduate experience and requires a four-year Mechanical or Structural Engineering degree, recognition under the Washington Accord, and ongoing registration ambitions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering (4-year program) recognised in Australia.
• 3–5 years post-graduate engineering experience.
• Working toward MIEAust with Engineers Australia and toward RPEQ registration.
• Strong English communication and report writing.
• Based in Capalaba or Toowoomba location.
• Experience with FEA software and 3D CAD.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineering analysis of in-house and client designs.
• Reviewing designs and providing clear technical feedback to project leads.
• Identifying design deficiencies and recommending remediation or modification.
• Preparing engineering calculations, technical reports and engineering certification documentation.
• Undertaking site inspections, condition assessments and field investigations of mechanical equipment and structures.
• Using laser scanning and other site measurement techniques to capture existing equipment and structures.
• Leading design teams on small, medium and large complex engineering projects.
