Job summary

Align Talent Pty Ltd is partnering with a well-established retailer in Melbourne to hire a hands-on Management Accountant. The role focuses on inventory, product margins and e-commerce operations, reporting to the Finance Manager and driving improved visibility into financial performance.

The successful candidate will operate in a commercial, analytical capacity across multiple entities, supporting month-end and ad hoc financial investigations while seeking opportunities to automate reporting

Qualifications

• Experience in a management accounting or similar analytical finance role within retail, wholesale, distribution or inventory-intensive business.
• Strong inventory accounting knowledge including product costing, stock reconciliations and margin analysis.
• Experience with e-commerce environments, online marketplaces and multiple sales channels.
• Exposure to multi-entity accounting environments with ability to manage competing priorities.
• Advanced Excel skills to manipulate large datasets and produce meaningful analysis.
• Interest in improving reporting, automation and processes.

Responsibilities

• Performing detailed inventory and margin analysis across multiple retail and e-commerce businesses.
• Investigating variances related to product costs, POs, selling prices and inventory movements.
• Analyzing the financial impact of promotions and pricing decisions on profitability.
• Collaborating with purchasing, retail and operations to understand product performance.
• Monitoring and reconciling inventory balances across entities and channels.
• Supporting month-end processes, including journals and reconciliations.
• Providing insights to support commercial decision-making and process improvements.
• Identifying opportunities to improve reporting and automate processes.
