Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Environmental Engineer to join their team in Queenstown, focusing on environmental compliance for industrial and civil projects and developing remediation strategies.

You will conduct EIAs, prepare EMPs, and oversee groundwater and soil remediation with a focus on regulatory alignment and sustainable practices. The role also involves reporting, stakeholder liaison, and ensuring project approvals. Hybrid work and professional development are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Environmental or Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years in environmental consultancy, compliance or remediation.
• Knowledge of South African environmental legislation (NEMA) is required.
• Experience with site investigations, groundwater monitoring, soil remediation.
• Proficiency in environmental modeling software and GIS is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Conduct EIAs and prepare EMPs.
• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and permits.
• Develop and oversee remediation plans for soil and groundwater.
• Conduct site investigations, sampling and testing.
• Prepare technical reports, permit applications and monitoring programs.
• Liaise with regulators, clients and stakeholders to secure approvals.
