Job summary

REA Group Ltd. in Sydney seeks an experienced Data Scientist to enhance PropTrack’s AVM, expand market metrics and build innovative, customer-focused products.

You will design and deploy ML models, collaborate with ML engineers, and work with AWS, Python, SQL, and BigQuery to deliver trusted insights and seamless experiences.

A strong foundation in statistics and machine learning, 2+ years’ experience, and hands-on coding in Python are required.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in data science, econometrics, statistics, or related discipline; or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years industry experience in Data Science, ML engineering, Data Analyst or similar roles.
• Expertise in statistical modelling and machine learning theory.
• Strong Python programming skills and ability to write/read/debug/maintain code.
• Hands-on Python for data science with pandas, NumPy and scikit-learn.
• Proficient in SQL and handling large/complex datasets.
• Experience deploying models to production (CI, IaC, containerisation).
• Strong CS fundamentals in data structures, problem solving, algorithm design, and complexity analysis.
• Exposure to Git and Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
• Team player with structured approach to building/testing models.
• Data handling skills and ability to identify data quality issues.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop AI solutions using AWS, Docker, Python, BigQuery and related tech.
• Extract, manipulate and assemble data for modelling from multiple sources.
• Engineer features for ingestion into PropTrack's AI platform.
• Prototype and build new ML models to improve performance.
• Tune hyperparameters and validate model performance.
• Develop model visualization tools for analytics and business support.
• Document projects on Confluence and in Git repositories.
• Present projects within the data science team and to REA audiences.
