Job summary

Flight Centre Travel Group seeks a Data Engineer in its Corporate Data & Insights team in South Bank, QLD. You will design and optimize scalable data solutions, ensuring high-quality information access across the organisation and collaborating with BI developers, data scientists, and architects.

You will build and optimize pipelines, models, and governance to support data-driven decisions while leveraging Azure, Databricks, and lakehouse tech. Hybrid work with diverse stakeholders is offered.

Qualifications

• 4+ years’ experience as a Data Engineer or similar role
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and data integration solutions
• Proficiency in Python, SQL and Spark SQL for data transformation and processing
• Solid understanding of data warehousing and data modelling concepts (dim modelling, star schemas, medallion architecture)
• Hands-on experience with Azure cloud data and ETL tools such as Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, and Databricks
• Experience using Git for version control and Azure DevOps for CI/CD and work management
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills
• Ability to work with both technical teams and business stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines for ETL into data lakes and lakehouse environments
• Create data models to support business requirements and analytics
• Integrate data from internal and external systems for reliable assets
• Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance
• Optimize data platforms for performance and scale
• Build reliable data solutions handling large volumes
• Implement data security controls for sensitive data
• Collaborate with BI, Data Science, Arch/Infra teams and stakeholders
• Evaluate emerging data tooling and technologies
• Troubleshoot data issues and support operations
• Enable data-driven decision making with accessible data assets
