Job summary

Virgin Australia is seeking an API & Integration Support Engineer to join our IT team in a hybrid role based out of Brisbane or Sydney. You will provide Level 3 production support across APIs, microservices and integration platforms, troubleshoot incidents, support deployments and work with cross-functional teams to maintain stable services.

You will lead complex incident investigations, coordinate releases, monitor health and performance, and contribute to permanent fixes and documentation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in software engineering, application support or a similar technical role.
• Strong experience providing Level 3 production support for critical applications or platforms.
• Hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience supporting APIs, microservices and integration platforms.
• Exposure to Apigee, Kafka, REST/SOAP APIs and Kubernetes/Docker.
• Strong experience with incident, problem and change management in a BAU environment.
• Experience coordinating deployments, releases, validation and rollback activities.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capability across distributed systems.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as New Relic, Splunk, Dynatrace or Grafana.
• Working knowledge of ServiceNow and ITIL practices.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.

Responsibilities

• Lead investigation and resolution of complex production incidents and service disruptions.
• Support Level 1 and Level 2 teams during critical incidents and major outages.
• Coordinate production deployments, emergency changes and release activities.
• Monitor application health, performance, availability and operational risk.
• Complete root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes to recurring issues.
• Support vulnerability remediation, patching and lifecycle management.
• Troubleshoot Spring Boot microservices, APIs and integration services across cloud environments.
• Support integration technologies including Apigee, Kafka, Java and Spring Boot.
• Maintain technical documentation, troubleshooting guides and operational knowledge.
• Participate in an on-call roster and provide after-hours support when required.
• Work across onshore and offshore teams to maintain seamless operational support.
