Job summary

Hamilton Island is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join our Sydney-based Financial Accounting team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will help maintain the integrity of our financial data and general ledger, focusing on capital projects and work-in-progress accounts, while supporting financial reporting, reconciliations and system administration.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Accounting or related discipline.
• CPA or CA qualification in progress preferred.
• Strong Excel skills and high computer literacy.
• Excellent communication and administration skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain capital work-in-progress accounts aligned with approved capital projects.
• Support project managers with queries and administer capital and WIP accounts.
• Ensure accurate recording and management of capital expenditure transactions.
• Collaborate with department and project managers to support accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare reconciliations for selected general ledger accounts and process journals.
• Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes and system administration.
• Support Systems Accountant with financial system administration and liaise with IT and stakeholders.
• Support external audit requirements and liaise with auditors as required.
