Job summary

Precision Mechanical Services is seeking an experienced HVAC Site Foreman / Mechanical Plumber to join our Melbourne-based construction team. You will lead on-site installations, coordinate tradespeople and ensure projects meet safety, quality, and timeline goals.

You will work closely with Project Managers and the Construction Manager, supervising day-to-day mechanical installation activities and ensuring compliance with standards and codes across all sites.

Qualifications

• HVAC site foreman role requires supervising installations and coordinating trades.
• Strong plumbing and ductwork knowledge with experience on commercial HVAC projects.
• Must read and interpret mechanical drawings and installation docs, manage safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Supervise installation of commercial HVAC systems and equipment.
• Oversee mechanical pipework, ductwork, grilles and related components.
• Read and interpret shop drawings, specs and installation docs.
• Coordinate tradespeople, apprentices and subcontractors on site.
• Schedule labour, materials and equipment for installation activities.
• Liaise with builders/site supervisors to coordinate works.
• Inspect installations for compliance with Australian Standards and safety rules.
• Identify site issues and report to Project Manager.
• Ensure workmanship meets company quality standards.
• Operate plant and equipment with appropriate licences.
• Attend safety meetings and toolbox talks.
• Submit weekly timesheets and site documentation.
• Maintain current trade licences and qualifications.
• Assist with commissioning, defect rectification and handover.

About Us

Precision Mechanical Services is an established commercial HVAC contractor based in Carrum Downs, specialising in commercial mechanical installations, office fit-outs, refurbishments and major mechanical services upgrades throughout Melbourne.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated HVAC Site Foreman / Mechanical Plumber to join our construction team.

About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership position suited to an experienced mechanical plumber who can supervise site installations, coordinate tradespeople and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

You will work closely with our Project Managers and Construction Manager and be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of mechanical installation works on site.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and carry out the installation of commercial HVAC systems and equipment.

• Install and oversee mechanical pipework, rigid and flexible ductwork, grilles and associated HVAC components.

• Read and interpret mechanical shop drawings, specifications and installation documentation.

• Coordinate tradespeople, apprentices and subcontractors on site.

• Organise and schedule labour, materials, equipment and installation activities.

• Liaise with builders, site supervisors and other trades to coordinate works.

• Inspect completed installations to ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards, building codes and safety regulations.

• Identify site issues, variations and potential delays and report these to the Project Manager.

• Ensure workmanship meets company quality standards.

• Operate plant and equipment where appropriately licensed and authorised.

• Ensure compliance with company WHS policies and site safety requirements.

• Attend company safety meetings and toolbox talks.

• Complete and submit weekly timesheets and required site documentation.

• Maintain current trade licences, qualifications and certifications.

• Assist with commissioning, defect rectification and project handover.

Skills & Experience

• Qualified Mechanical Plumber with relevant Victorian plumbing registration or licensing.

• Experience in commercial HVAC installations, including ductwork, mechanical pipework and equipment.

• Previous experience as a Site Foreman or Leading Hand preferred.

• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.

• Strong organisational, communication and leadership skills.

• Ability to work independently, manage site priorities and meet construction deadlines.

• High standards of workmanship and workplace safety.

• Current Victorian driver's licence and Construction White Card.
