The Opportunity

Are you ready to make a real impact? We’re excited to offer two (2) newly created Human Resources Business Partner roles - a unique opportunity to help shape the future of our workforce from the ground up. In this dynamic and strategic position, you’ll work closely with leaders across the organisation to deliver high-impact HR solutions that drive performance, engagement, and growth. From workforce planning and employee relations to organisational development and capability building, your expertise will help create a thriving, future-ready workplace.

Some of the key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Partner with leaders to design and implement workforce strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Provide expert advice on employment legislation, workplace issues, and people management practices.
  • Lead end-to-end recruitment, selection, and appointment processes.
  • Support the design and delivery of employee development and training programs.
  • Advise on organisational structure, job design, and classification matters.
  • Manage sensitive employee relations issues including performance, grievances, and discipline.
  • Contribute to change management initiatives and organisational development strategies.
  • Ensure HR systems and processes support compliance and business needs.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver strategic HR outcomes.
  • Promote a culture of integrity, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Why Join Us

At the MCB, you’ll be part of something bigger than a workplace. Preserving cultural heritage, fostering community connections, and delivering vital public services. We offer a collaborative and inclusive environment where you are recognised, your ideas are valued, and your impact is felt every day. Join us and help shape a legacy that matters.

The MCB serves as the custodian of Perth’s cemeteries, providing respectful and culturally sensitive services that honour the lives and legacies of our diverse community. As a self-funded statutory authority, the MCB manages seven cemeteries and memorial parks across Greater Perth, offering meaningful spaces for remembrance, reflection, and connection.

About You

We consider all our people, leaders, and as such, we expect our people to adopt the expected behaviours and associated mindsets outlined in Building Leadership Impact and Leadership Expectations. You’ll demonstrate the behaviours and mindsets of Personal Leadership, including lead collectively, think through complexity, sense the environment, deliver on high-leverage areas, build capability, embody public service, and lead adaptively.

To be successful in this role, you will have as a minimum:

  • Significant relevant experience delivering HR services, support, and expertise that meet the needs of customers and stakeholders and support the organisation to achieve its vision, mission, and strategic priorities.
  • Demonstrated professional knowledge and experience of relevant human resources legislation and development frameworks and their impact on employment, people management, and business outcomes.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to coach and influence others, including effective negotiation and consultation with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing, facilitating, and evaluating training programs to build workforce and leadership capability.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, work collaboratively, and contribute to business outcomes through agility and solution focus.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as business management, human resource management, organisational psychology, public sector management, or similar qualifications.
