Job summary

Department of Health, Disability and Ageing in Canberra invites an APS6 Assessment Officer to join the team handling the Prescribed List of Medical Devices and HTA. You will assess high-volume, time-sensitive applications and develop recommendations with clinical experts and advisory committees.

The role requires evaluating technical and clinical information, preparing reports, and communicating outcomes to sponsors.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical devices, HTA or device reimbursement, or the ability to build it quickly.
• Ability to review and analyse technical and clinical information with attention to detail.
• Clear written and verbal communication, tailored to the audience.
• Ability to plan and prioritise your own workload in a changing environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assess Prescribed List applications and listings, from screening and analysis through to a written recommendation.
• Review existing listings and reconcile device details to identify and correct errors.
• Research clinical and health technology assessment (HTA) questions, drawing on expert advice where needed.
• Prepare reports, briefings and correspondence for applicants and committee members.
• Communicate outcomes to sponsors and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
