Job summary

BHP is seeking an experienced HSS leader for Minerals Australia Projects (MAP). Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety, Security and Emergency Management, you will lead a small team across multiple locations, delivering high-profile HSS improvements and strategic initiatives within MAP.

You will develop capability, drive governance, and align MAP HSS with Global HSS strategy. You will shape HSS leadership, coach teams, manage budgets, and build strong relationships with internal and external

Qualifications

• Well-developed professional technical expertise in HSS areas (health, safety, security, emergency management)
• Extensive experience in HSS or related field
• Experience in Projects or Construction is highly regarded
• Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills with regulators and community groups at senior levels
• Detailed knowledge of key concepts, theories and practices for HSS risk management
• Knowledge of mining/construction legislative environment is an advantage

Responsibilities

• Drive improvements in HSS performance across MAP
• Develop and lead a strong technical HSS team
• Lead strategic improvement programs and standardization of processes
• Coordinate with Global HSS and MAP stakeholders
• Develop and implement MAP HSS strategy aligned with Global HSS
• Provide coaching and guidance on HSS strategy, systems and procedures
• Support governance of HSS and Internal Audit and Assurance programs
