Job summary

Australian Sustainable Dairies Pty Ltd in Carrum Downs, Victoria, is seeking a strategic HSQE Manager to lead food safety, quality management and environmental programs across the site. You will drive Zero Defect initiatives, manage audits, maintain HACCP and ensure regulatory compliance while engaging cross-functional teams.

You will report to the Supply Chain Director, oversee QA laboratory reliability, and mentor staff to embed a strong food safety culture.

OUR ROLE

We are seeking a strategic thinking and action-oriented HSQE Manager to join our ASD team. The role is responsible for providing leadership and coordinating effective management and implementation of the sites Food Safety & Quality Management program including driving the Food Safety Culture agenda. This role is also responsible for driving the safety and environmental agenda across the site.

Located at our Carrum Downs site, and reporting into the Supply Chain Director, the HSQE Manager will ensure compliance to the Company's policies, standard and statutory requirements and deliver strong food safety practices and behaviours as we strive for zero defects.

The role is also responsible for:

Planning, implementing and maintaining our site food safety and quality improvement programs by encouraging and motivating our cross-functional site team to contribute and actively participate in these programs.

Ensuring that the site complies with voluntary and mandatory quality, regulatory and food safety standards to maintain certification of the quality and HACCP programs.

Initiate and participate in quality and continuous improvement projects.

Preparing and leading site audits plus managing the internal and supplier audit programmes.

Advising the site leadership about new regulations and standards relevant to the products we make.

Ensure the reliability and functionality of the QA Laboratory.

Responsible for all aspects of quality control activities of raw materials, in-line and finished products; monitor production processes to ensure quality systems, including accurate and verified quality records are maintained at all times.

Resolve any quality issues including non-conformances, product quality, and customer complaints.

Champion the importance of food safety to all staff, including creation and roll-out of Toolbox Talks, One-Point Lessons and SOPs.

Hands on testing and sampling of products as required

Manage the delivery of objectives within the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management system and environmental responsibilities to ensure that the organisation complies with all its legislative, regulatory and client OHS obligations

Lead continuous improvement across Quality, Food Safety & waste.

Drive a Zero Defect mentality through Right First Time thinking and elimination of consumer complaints to root cause.

Support and contribute when required to R&D activities on site.

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years' experience working as a Quality Manager or equivalent in food manufacturing, preferably within the dairy industry. Can demonstrate success in designing and implementing quality and food safety systems within the food industry and have extensive experience managing GFSI Quality Management systems and standards. Experience in organic products and working with accreditation bodies will be desirable.

You will also have strong written and verbal communication, have the ability to influence and engage with multiple stakeholders, a strong attention to detail and the ability to plan effectively, organise and prioritise work.
