Job summary

BMS Heavy Cranes Australia is seeking an experienced HSEQ Advisor for a FIFO/DIDO role focusing on large wind and renewable projects in Australia. You will lead safety across crane operations, coordinate with subcontractors and clients, and drive continuous improvement in HSEQ performance.

You will report to the HSEQ Manager and ensure compliance with WHS legislation, perform risk assessments, conduct incident investigations, and support injury management in remote site environments.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health & Safety is required.
• 3–5 years of HSEQ experience in construction/renewables or crane operations preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and incident investigation processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on HSEQ leadership across wind and heavy lift projects.
• Ensure compliance with WHS legislation and site safety requirements.
• Support high-risk activities including crane operations and project logistics.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and risk assessments.
• Lead incident investigations (ICAM or equivalent) and document findings.
• Maintain ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 systems where applicable.
• Facilitate toolbox talks and safety training with subcontractors.

Due to continued growth in the renewables sector, we are seeking an experienced and proactive HSEQ Advisor to join our project delivery team on a FIFO / DIDO basis initially on a Project in QLD.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the HSEQ Manager, you will provide hands‑on safety leadership across large‑scale wind and renewable energy projects. This is a site‑based FIFO / DIDO role requiring a strong field presence, supporting crane crews, project teams, liaison with subcontractors and clients to maintain the highest HSEQ standards.

You will play a critical role in ensuring compliance, driving continuous improvement, and embedding a strong safety‑first culture across complex heavy lift operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day HSEQ support across wind farm construction projects.
• Ensure compliance with WHS legislation and project‑specific safety requirements.
• Support high‑risk activities including heavy lifting, crane operations and internal Project logistics.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and risk assessments.
• Promote environmental compliance and quality assurance standards.
• Lead and document incident investigations (ICAM or equivalent).
• Support injury management and return‑to‑work processes.
• Facilitate toolbox talks, pre‑start meetings and safety training.
• Monitor subcontractor and contractor compliance as applicable.
• Assist in maintaining ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 systems.
• Prepare safety reports, KPIs and project documentation.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Certificate IV [minimum] or Diploma in Work Health & Safety.
• Proven experience in HSEQ within construction, renewables, wind, heavy lift or crane operations.
• 3-5 years of HSEQ experience in construction, renewables, heavy lift or crane operations preferred, but suitable candidates with 1-2 years will be considered.
• Strong working knowledge of Australian WHS legislation.
• Experience working on remote or large‑scale infrastructure projects.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously in remote project environments.
• ICAM (or equivalent) investigation training – highly regarded.
• GWO BST – highly regarded.
• Current Driver's License – required.
• Construction Industry White Card – required.
• Valid Australian work rights are required for this position.
• Comfortable with FIFO / DIDO roles [3:1 typical]
