Job summary

Babcock Australasia seeks an experienced HSE Risk, Governance & Performance Manager to join our Health, Safety and Environment team on a 2-year fixed-term contract. Based in our Adelaide office, you will drive HSE governance, risk identification and control, and lead assurance programs across Australasia.

You will provide leadership across investigations, contractor governance, emergency preparedness and performance reporting, partnering with operational leaders to raise HSE standards

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Health, Safety and Environment disciplines.
  • Defence security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Safety Investigation qualifications such as Top-Set or ICAM.
  • Lead Auditor experience with internal and external audits.
  • Experience in HSE roles within complex, high-risk and/or highly regulated industries.
  • Experience developing, implementing and governing HSE Management Systems and Australasia HSE frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the governance, development and continual improvement of HSE frameworks and risk governance practices.
  • Drive identification, assessment and control of critical risks across Australasia.
  • Provide subject matter leadership across risk management, management systems, assurance, investigations, contractor governance, emergency preparedness and HSE performance reporting.

About the Role

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced HSE Risk, Governance & Performance Manager to join our Health, Safety and Environment team on a 2-year fixed term contract. Based in our Franklin Street CBD office and reporting to the Head of HSEQ, this is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping and driving HSE excellence across Babcock Australasia.


In this influential leadership position, you will lead the governance, development and continual improvement of our HSE frameworks, ensuring critical risks are effectively identified, assessed and controlled through robust systems, assurance programs and risk governance practices. Working closely with operational leaders and key stakeholders, you will drive a consistent approach to HSE standards, strengthen organisational capability and support informed, risk-based decision making across the business.


You will provide subject matter leadership across critical risk management, management systems, assurance, investigations, contractor governance, emergency preparedness and HSE performance reporting. This role is ideal for a strategic and proactive HSE professional who is passionate about continuous improvement, operational excellence and creating safer workplaces.

To be successful, you will bring


  • Australian Citizenship with a Defence security clearance (or the ability to obtain).

  • Tertiary qualifications in the Health, Safety and Environment or Occupational Health and Safety disciplines.

  • Safety Investigation qualifications such as Top-Set or Incident Cause Analysis Method (ICAM).

  • Lead Auditor (training or experience) with experience of conducting internal and external audits.

  • Experience in HSE roles within complex, high-risk and/or highly regulated industries.

  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing and governing HSE Management Systems and Australasia HSE frameworks.
