Job summary

Alder Group is seeking an experienced HSE Manager to lead the health, safety and environment function across its Constructions BU on the Gold Coast. You will guide strategy, governance and field-level support to elevate safety performance across a diverse project portfolio.

Based on the Gold Coast, this role reports to the CEO of Constructions and offers proactive leadership, stakeholder engagement and a strong focus on continuous improvement in safety culture and sustainability.

Qualifications

• Qualification in Work Health and Safety or related discipline
• Extensive HSE leadership experience in construction, civil infrastructure or similar high-risk environment
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and environmental requirements
• Experience managing HSE management systems, audits, accreditations and compliance programs
• Incident investigation and risk management capability
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites
• Environmental management or ISO systems experience
• Visible, influential leader building trusted relationships and positively impacting safety culture
• Commercially minded problem-solver balancing compliance, risk and project outcomes

Responsibilities

• Lead the HSE function and seven Advisors across the Constructions BU
• Drive proactive safety culture aligned with Zero Harm
• Maintain and improve HSE systems, policies and procedures
• Manage accreditation and certification (ISO, FSC, PQC, CM3) and client requirements
• Provide HSE support for tenders, submissions and prequalification processes
• Oversee audits, inspections, risk management and project assurance activities
• Support project teams with practical HSE advice and compliance requirements
• Lead incident investigations, regulatory reporting and corrective actions
• Act as Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator, managing claims
• Monitor and report HSE performance, trends and improvement initiatives
• Lead environmental management and sustainability outcomes across projects
• Support training, competency and workforce capability development

Lead Safety Excellence Across Landmark Community Construction Projects

As our business continues to grow, we’re seeking an experienced and proactive Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager to lead our HSE function across the Constructions Business Unit.

About the Role

As the HSE Manager, you will provide leadership, strategic direction and operational support across all aspects of health, safety and environmental management.

You will be responsible for:

• Leading the HSE function and a team of seven HSE Advisors across the Constructions Business Unit
• Driving a proactive safety culture aligned with our Zero Harm commitment
• Maintaining and continually improving HSE management systems, policies and procedures
• Managing accreditation and certification requirements including ISO, FSC, PQC, CM3 and client-specific regulatory requirements.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Qualification in Work Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline
• Extensive HSE leadership experience within construction, civil infrastructure or a similar high-risk environment
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, environmental requirements and relevant Codes of Practice
• Experience managing HSE management systems, audits, accreditations and compliance programs
• Demonstrated capability in incident investigation and risk management
• Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel regularly to project sites
• Environmental management or ISO systems experience
• Be a visible and influential leader who builds trusted relationships and positively impacts safety culture across all levels.
• Practical and commercially minded problem-solver with the ability to balance compliance, risk and project outcomes.
